On the Prowl for Hibiscus Margaritas…

Posted by: Liz Johnson - Posted in cocktails on Dec 05, 2006

Hey everybody. I’m back from a trip to Mexico, and already missing my hibiscus margarita. Does anybody know where I can get my hands on one around here?

I’d be happy to make hibiscus water at home, too, so do let me know if you’ve seen any dried flowers around — Port Chester, maybe? New Ro?

You might try the semi-new Caribbean Supermarket that opened recently at 333 South Fulton Ave. in Mount Vernon. I know they had a wide selection of dried flowers and herbs, but I’m not positive that they have hibiscus.

Hibuscus flowers are for sale on Main Street in Poughkeepsie. The name of the store is something like Casa Latina, right on a corner somewhere around Family Dollar, Eckert Drugs. Bought some last summer, but have not tried it. And Jamaican food bogedas would have it, too. Just found your blog today. Sound like a girl after my own heart. Love to eat, think and read about food.
