Just went to X20 and loved it. The food and service were wonderful and it's hard to beat that view. It was a very pleasurable experience...

Well after eating at Bloom, I think they have to be the leader. I called them up yesterday to make plans to mother's day, but unfortunately they are booked. I got the owner on the phone and am amazed at what he's doing. Besides the organic food, they have organic wine and a eco-friendly build-out. I think it's amazing. I wish I wasn't so tired from commuting to the city back and forth every day, otherwise I would be there all the time!

Tom,
As I asked you on the other thread: If you know about something innovative, different or interesting, please share it with me.

Hey BigKahuna! Thank you so much for pointing those out. We haven't been to Yonkers that much lately. I've heard great things about Valentino's. What do you recommend I order?

Though I have to disagree with Jean — each week in foodline, we cover smaller restaurants. For example, last Friday, we covered Lou's Texas Chili in White Plains. That certainly isn't "big chef!" And just look at all the burger place on this blog the last few weeks!

I agree Kahuna. Enough with the lovefest that JN has with these "big chef" places already. Kahuna.. have you ever thought about blogging? A nice dose of down home local establishments would definitely be a breath of fresh air.

I'm sure Mr. Kelly is grateful for all of the wonderful free publicity the JN has provided for his new restaurant (it seems that there is plenty more to come). However, there are other restaurants worthy of mention in Yonkers and other southern Westchester towns that happen not to be owned by a celebrity chef, although you may not know that from reading either the JN print edition or this blog. Tombolino in Yonkers has been a family favorite for Italian for almost 30 years. Also for Italian, Valentino's on Bronx River Road in Yonkers is a very good choice, be sure to bring cash as they do not accept credit cards. There aren't many places in the local area better for a burger than Piper's Kilt, also in Eastchester. The Eastchester Burger there is my favorite. In Bronxville, there is Haiku for sushi and the Blue Moon for Mexican. Mount Vernon is home to The Bayou which serves fine southern and cajun cuisine. Also in Mount Vernon is Samba na Brasa, a Brazilian Churrascaria. Although not quite as enjoyable as Churrascaria Plataforma in Manhattan, it's still quite nice and about half the price.
