I’m guessing that even though we have a few vocal dissenters, readers are still interested in a sneak peak at Peter X. Kelly’s new X20-Xaviars on the Hudson on the Yonkers pier. The restaurant will open June 12.
Without further ado.
The entrance:

See the mother of pearl on the wall behind?

And there’s a huge space for a dramatic vertical painting by Jon Beerman, a Hudson River school artist.

Turn right and head toward the bar and the Dylan Lounge:

The bar:

Note the Hudson River stones on the wall behind?

The Dylan Lounge:

Bamboo on the wall:

One of the banquettes in the Dylan Lounge:

The carpet there. Note how it mimics the movement of the water?

They paid a lot of attention to detail. Note how the kickboard of the bar matches the bars of the pier?

Peter also says this swath of fabric on the wall is meant to remind you of the checks on chefs’ pants:

A closer look at the kitchen:

On your way to the dining room, you’ll pass through the wine storage:

Then you’ll walk into the dining room:

What do you think?

I think we talk too much about Peter Kelly and Dan Barber. There is so much more to Westchester then those two. Why not celebrate other restaurants, which are frankly better, and much warmer as well.
Great, Tom! Suggestions?
Yes, I live in Dobbs Ferry and I have seen many restaurant come and go, like Mimosa’s for example. I see that the trend in food writing/media is to showcase high profile chefs and restaurants. In Westchester, Peter Kelly and Dan Barber, in the city its Bobby Flay, Daniel, or Eric Ripert. It’s so boring at this point. Aren’t there any signle owners in Westchester?
Can you give me some suggestions of restaurants you’d like to see covered that are still open?
I heard about a place in Hastings that my friend just went on Saturday night. They loved in but since I work in the city and come up, I rarely go out to eat here in Westchester. I think it’s an organic place.
Yes  Bloom. Great place. Here’s a link:

Wow that’s very funny, I was just looking at their review in Westchester Magazine. They got a nice review but it says at the end that they switched chefs. Do you know anything about that?
Ok thanks, I am looking forward to trying it! I will give you a full report after.
Yes, the owner, James Sklar, is now the chef. (He says so at the end of that post.) I meant to post something about that and it got away from me. Thanks for the reminder.
Hi Liz, my wife and I went last night. We had the tuna tartare (amazing), shrimp appetizer (which was fresh, nice flavors), bison (loved it, never had it before, and she had the snapper (she loved that too). We were too full for dessert, but we are planning to be regulars.
By the way Liz, my wife Melissa couldn’t stop talking about the owner, so I don’t know how often we will be going! We did love it though.
Never mind Tom Liz,
Keep up the good work,I can never get eough of Peter Kelly
he sounds like a truly amazing buisness man
Can’t wait to meet him some day!
I too think there is too much coverage of Kelly. His restaurants are not among my favorites.
