As food editor, she won awards from the New York News Publishers Association, the Association of Food Journalists and the Associated Press. She lives in Nyack with her husband and daughter on a tiny suburban lot they call their farm — with fruit trees, an herb garden, and a yardful of lettuce, tomatoes, onions, shallots, cucumbers, zucchini, radishes, cabbage, peppers, Brussels sprouts and carrots and four big blueberry bushes.

  1. Liz, what happened to The Bayou in Mount Vernon?

We had dinner there Saturday night (my teenage son invited his teenage friends, who loved it) and today I go by and see a demolition notice on the door!

The phone just rings, no message about a new location or anything. Can you find out what happened? The Bayou has been a Fleetwood stalwart for years.

  2. My Bad!

Apparently, despite the demoltion notice on the front door, The Bayou is still on business. It must be that they are re-doing their front to coordinate with the new bank built next door.
