This press release came to me on Tuesday, but with the holiday, I was remiss in passing it on. Sorry. Here you go:

MORTON’S THE STEAKHOUSE GETS NEW HEAD CHEF

WHITE PLAINS/July 3, 2007:  Morton’s The Steakhouse at 9 Maple Avenue in White Plains has hired a new head chef. Kevin Dranoff, a resident of Montebello in Rockland County, is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and brings nearly 30 years of experience as a chef to his new position.

Dranoff was the owner and operator of Alyssa Restaurant in Rockland County during the 1980s and was also a chef for a large catering hall. He has worked in several area Italian restaurants and steak houses over the years.

As a teen in Spring Valley, Dranoff worked at an Italian Deli and enjoyed it so much that it inspired him to become a chef. He went on to graduate from Sullivan County Community College with a degree in Hotel Restaurant Management and then graduated from the CIA in 1979.

Morton’s The Steakhouse is renowned for its signature menu and legendary hospitality.  Now in its 29th year, Morton’s has set the standard for fine steakhouse dining. Morton’s serves only the finest quality foods, featuring USDA prime aged, Midwest grain-fed beef shipped directly from Chicago, fresh fish and seafood, hand-picked produce and elegant desserts. The first Morton’s was opened in 1978 by founders Arnie Morton and Klaus Fritsch in Chicago.  Today, there are 74 company-owned restaurants. Morton’s Restaurant Group is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol MRT.
