Fall Restaurant Preview: BLT Steak

BLT Steak. On Nov. 14, Manhattan chef Laurent Tourondel brings his BLT Empire (BLT Fish, BLT Market) to the Ritz-Carlton in White Plains. (BLT stands for Bistro Laurent Tourondel, not bacon, lettuce and tomato.) It’s a steakhouse, sure, but an elegant one, where you’ll order your Kobe beef while gazing at the chocolate brown-and-caramel decor and golden lighting designed by Michael Badley. BLT’s signature blackboard menu will highlight daily specials. Begin with a traditional shrimp cocktail, or go modern and order the roasted beets with goat cheese. Steakhouse sides, stylishly done, accompany veal chops, aged Porterhouse or grilled tuna with a choice of sauces like cilantro mayonnaise. Main Street near Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains. No phone yet.

  1. So is the WP Ritz-Carlton destined to become Westchester’s equivalent of the Time-Warner building in Manhattan?

had dinner there tonight- steak was undercooked (rare, I asked for medium rare) and my companion had a filet well done when med-well ordered. both were sent back and came back right and the steak was excellent (how do steak houses get it wrong??) spinach salad unexciting- no or not enough dressing. Biggest complaint- the sommelier. why is it that every time one shows up at the table when you are familiarizing yourself with the list, they happen to recommend the MOST expensive wine in that category??!! leave me alone, i will figure out a wine that makes sense if all you can do is show me the most expensive wine on the list!!
