Ebb Tide, A Great Lobster Roll

I love the lobster roll at Ebb Tide in Port Chester. You have to be prepared — it’s not a traditional lobster roll. The bun is sour dough… and a little bit crunchy… not like those soft hot dog buns you might be used to.

I went for lunch the other day. Ebb Tide is right on the Byram River, and it doubles as a bait shop. You walk up to the counter and order.

You can also get fresh fish there. They had crabs the other day:

As you’re waiting to place your oder, you can watch as they cook.

You can also take a menu to go.

Here’s the coolest part. The view:

There’s a lovely deck where you can check out the boats and make plans for deep-sea fishing adventures:

That is, until your food comes.

Delish.

Have you been? Do you like the lobster rolls? Where else can you get a good one?

Liz, you forgot the best part, their fresh tomato salad. When you order an entree they usually throw some on, but you can order it as a side as well.

The only other lobster roll I know of in town is at Legal Seafood. Oh, and Stew Leonard’s sells them over the summer as well!

Ebb Tide is a winner. The lobster rolls are our favorite in Westchester. Although, I can’t think of any other place in the county that serves them. We love the rolls at Mary’s Fish Camp in the city, but at around $22.00, you need to take out a second mortgage to afford them. The deck at Ebb Tide is a fun spot when the weather is right. Their fried shrimp are also pretty good.

The boiled lobsters are wonderful! As is the steamed clams with garlic and oil, fried scallops, everything we ever tried. Cole slaw and chowder also good. We try to go every Friday when the sun is shining and it’s warm enough. The view from the picnic tables on the deck makes you feel like you’re on vacation. You have to go early though, or you’ll have to wait on line….
