New Livanos Restaurant in Armonk
The Livanos family, who own Oceana, Molyvos and Abboccatto in Manhattan as well as the City Limits Diners in White Plains and Stamford, is turning the former Yellow Barn Furniture Store in Armonk into The Moderne Barn, a contemporary American restaurant with a raw bar and a killer wine cellar.
“We live almost down the street,” Nick Livanos told me. The whole family. “I’m living in Armonk for 7 years and I see what the void is there… Everyone know that knows us in the town, they say, ‘When are you going to open up a restaurant?’”
Well: in about a year.
They’re starting demolition on the building soon. They’ll rent out 3 stores and second floor office space and keep 5,500 square feet for the restaurant, which will be “nothing formal, a little on the casual side  with just the right level of sophistication, and of course great food,” says Livanos. The wine cellar will take up the entire space above the bar  a la Morrell Wine Bar & Cafe and Craft in Manhattan.

MODERNE YARN
Skip it! Matzoh Ball soup was lead bottom. House salad was dry. Flank Steak was tough. Shrimp Chopped Salad was okay, pistachios were great, the sherry dressing was bland, Polenta tasted like cream of wheat, Procuitto Pizza was bone dry, desert was lousy. Get the same food and enjoy it at Centro in Greenwich or Tarry Lodge. Waste of money. NOTHING special at all.
FABULOUS !!! These people know what they are doing. I had the tuna tquitos and flat bread pizza. Both were OUTSTANDING!! The sweetness of the fig with the prosucitto was delicious! I couldn’t disgree with the review above more. For dinner I had the salmon which was cooked to perfection ! My friend had the Chopped Salad split the pizza with me and enjoyed a delicious hanger steak which was also cooked perfectly! The dessert, which was Crem brule, was yummy although I would have prefered coffee flavor over the carmel but the chocoate and vanilla were to die for !! The space is beautiful and the staff was terriffic. It was a wonderful dining experience and cant wait to go back !!!
