People Are Using Our Name at Restaurants
I recently found out that people have been throwing the Journal News name around, asking for favors at local restaurants. Among other ploys, people have used names of Journal News employees to get reservations at high-profile restaurants, and they’ve used the paper’s name to try to get special treatment. One particularly well-known place  with security cameras  is working with the newspaper to investigate.
I want to put this out there for everyone to know: Journal News employees are forbidden to use their affiliation to get special treatment of any kind. Restaurant owners and employees should be vigilant of anyone who does, for any reason: whether it’s to get a better table or free food or a hard-to-get reservation. (I think the folks at Mima and Tap House can tell you… I don’t always announce when I’m in the room! I took those photos without ever being recognized.)
All Journal News employees carry ID. The only exceptions to this are freelancers to whom I have assigned articles, usually Judith Hausman and Deven and Jill Black. If restaurateurs are presented with any questionable behavior, ask to see photo identification, and call to let me know immediately: 914-694-5075.

wow—that’s pretty funny!! i could just imagine… “No reservations available? What? Don’t you know who I am? I’m kinda a big deal around here. The name’s Liz Johnson. Find me a table—NOW!” hehehe.
Thats just sad. If me being me doesnt get me in a restaurant then i just find a place that will have me
the only special favor i want is for the food and service to be good. I dont want to be treated better but i definitely dont want to be treated worse. This is why i generally hate people as a whole.
Would like to see the paper publish a report once this is unraveled, along with an article on what makes someone do stuff like this. It would be very intriguing to read.
That is so sad that people have to pretend to be someone else to get a drink or a meal…. I do hope they find out who is doing this…. Would also love to hear a follow up from the paper on this.
