Captain Lawrence Has A Summer Wheat

I stopped by Captain Lawrence Brewing Company to fill up a couple of growlers for a Saturday night party and saw that brewer Scott Vaccarro has a new summer wheat out called Sun Block. Now I’m not much of a beer drinker, but lately I’ve found (by sneaking a sip of my husband’s drink) that I’m quite fond of the taste of Hitachino Nest Beer White Ale. It’s a Japanese wheat beer made in the Belgian style. I found Scott’s Sun Block beer to be very similar in taste: crisp, refreshing and citrus-y. I’ll be filling up the growler again — this time for myself.

And speaking of Captain Lawrence, it sure is great to have such an amazing resource in our back yard. When I noticed it on the menu at Please Don’t Tell, the faux-speakeasy in the East Village, I gave a little rah-rah! out for Scott. It’s so cool to see our local beer on the menu of a coctkail mecca like that.
