I also live in White Plains. The Fairway on 125th Street in Manhattan (west of Harlem) is great, but if one needs to fill the tank with gas, and is willing to shop on a Sunday, the trip to the Fairway in Paramus is worth it – the difference in the cost of gasoline alone will neutralize or at least ameliorate the tolls, and the trip on 287 and the GSP is fairly quick and easy.

Trader Joe’s has better prices on boxed broth, and there are a few other items are a little pricier at Fairway, but there is so much there that is extremely well-priced. I can’t find prime grade flank steak anywhere else less than $12.99/lb, here it’s $8.99 a pound. And prime only needs a little salt and pepper, whereas choice needs a marinade. Yesterday, we bought a nice prime sirloin steak there at $5.99/pound. Yum-O!

The fresh vegetable/fruit selection is amazing!

And yesterday, at checkout, I grabbed a couple of sixpacks of Canfield’s Diet Chocolate Fudge soda – I have not seen this in Westchester for a few years now.

I live in White Plains and shop at the Fairway on 125th St. It’s an easy drive…easy on…easy off. I am looking forward to the opening of Fairway in Pelham and will shop there regularly. I love the store…lots of great items….great meats, veggies and fruit. I would not do my over-all shopping there but will buy what we eat. Paper and other products are from Sam’s or Costco.

When??? This has been circulating for a period of time and I am anxious to get some organic vegies in the neighborhood. Super anxious! So tired of driving to Manhattan, through so much traffic, folks with road rage, exhaust, stressful sights and sounds. I am definitely gonna spend some money in Fairway.

Love it, Love it, Love it. I don’t get there often but when i do, i go to Plainview, on trips to Long Island. I live in Pelham and am very excited about it coming here. I am familiar with former owners and employess and have enjoyed both the restaurant on Broadway and 72nd, as welll as the cafeteria style setting in Plainview. I am always hungry when i go food shopping, now i will be able to do both. Yeah!!

BTW, the Paramus location will be at the former “Fashion Center”, which is right off the GSP and not too bad to get to from Rockland.

This is great news but for those of us in Northern Westchester, it’s still a schlep. It’s closer to The Bronx than almost anything in Westchester.

It’s bad enough that Trader Joe’s doesn’t think that anything north of Hartsdale is worthy of their presence (although at least they are in Danbury, CT, which is closer to me than the new Fairway will be).

That said, I’ll definitely stop there on my way to visit relatives in Queens, and it will save me a drive out to Plainview on Long Island, where I go when I am out there.
