Red Hat on the River: Rooftop Bar is Open

I stopped by the Red Hat on the River for a sip and a snack last Tuesday — the last day of the heat wave. Unfortunately, I missed the opening of the rooftop deck by just one day. It’s open now, and has stunning views.

Ok, Ok: That’s the view from the patio, but I promise to get snaps from the rooftop deck soon. Owners Mary Beth and Jim tell me they’ll only serve drinks up there for now, but they’re considering getting a grill for hot dogs and hamburgers… just some light fare. Also, you can’t reserve on the deck (because what if it rains?) except for on July 4th. I imagine the views of the fireworks from Yonkers to Piermont to Tarrytown to Haverstraw will be terrific.

I tried the grilled shrimp appetizer —

— citrusy and good with a crisp white wine.
