One Heck of a Fish Guy

Rerun day continues on Small Bites. Back in mid June, when I was reporting the kindai tuna story, I ran into a fishmonger we should all be so lucky to have in our local store. His name is Joe DeLuise:

He works at Mount Kisco Seafood, where he’s known as Big Joe — to distinguish between him and Joe DiMauro, the owner.

He butchers fish like a playa. He’s quick and never misses.

A halibut:

His handiwork:

Best part? Big Joe is a fisherman himself. He’s around fish pretty much all day, every day. He loves to spend his time off on the rivers in the Catskills. Always catches and releases, though.

If you stop by, say hi.

One last thing about Mount Kisco Seafood. I love the daily trivia. Can anyone guess the answer to this one?
