Next Week’s Restaurant Review: Bo Cafe in Dobbs Ferry
It’s that time again, where I post next week’s restaurant review in hopes that you’ll comment on it. We’ll select a few comments to publish with the review in the paper next week. This week: Bo Cafe in Dobbs Ferry, which Judith Hausman says is like an old friend from the neighborhood. She quite liked the bruschetta.
Tell me what you think, too:

Everyone loves their own neighborhood spot on the corner.
Well, welcome to Bo Café.
It’s an unusual style of restaurant for our neck of the woods: during the day it’s a café; at night it’s a wine bar.
General Manager Karen Lappin was a Manhattan wine consultant for 10 years. “We really wanted to make Bo two restaurants.
Daytime we play Paris café music and offer breakfast pastries and great paninis. Then we switch the mood with jazz and candles for late-night strollers.â€
That might mean apple turnovers, flaky croissant or white chocolate-raspberry scones to dunk in a macchiato. Bo’s own label coffee was developed especially for the café, and there are unique coffee drinks on the menu, such as the Shekerato (espresso flavored with vanilla and shaken with ice) and the Marocchino (a mini cappuccino served in a glass with cocoa powder and cream).
The lunch menu includes grilled chicken, pesto and mozzarella sandwiches, grilled on ciabatta, grilled veggie wraps or housemade mango sorbet and pistachio gelato troweled into a cup. In the evening, you might find commuters stopping in on the way home for a glass of Chilean malbec or an Ommegang Three Philosophers and a plate of spicy beef empanadas.
On weekends when you just want a sunset or late-night stroll to get out of the house, the silvery tables, sleek booths and comfy acid-green chairs and stools will be there for you.
A bruschetta trio — tapenade, tomato-onion and eggplant — is shareable and summery. Lappin says patrons come by for desserts and coffees after eating at other restaurants, too. Fruit soup or fig tart, a fruit and cheese platter, maybe? With a glass of port?
Marie Evans, formerly of the award-winning Pastry Chicks and Tavern on the Green in Manhattan, created the appealing pastry and after-dinner menus.
Bo Café is a sweet local spot for sweets, nibbles and late-night treats. It’s like visiting that old friend down the block.

I happened to pass by the area today and found Bo Cafe’. The place is closed down since Nov 25, 2009. It is very sad to see this place close their door for good. It is such a nice neighborhood place to hang out at night. Oh, well.. If I have it my way, I will re-open this place.
Today, I called and spoke to the landlord and agreed to take over the place.. So, please come back to visit the new Bo Cafe’ ( I might not be able to keep the same name )
