People say there was a sign saying it would open today, but I just called and didn’t get anyone to pick up. Anyone know if it’s open yet?

Duke’s is opening Nov 5, we were just there for dinner last night and the food is absolutly fantastic from appetizers to desserts. I can not say anything bad about it. The setting inside is very relaxing but elegant at the same time.
You will not be sorry to go there for dinner.
My husband and I returned to Duke Ocean Grill last night for the second time, bringing guests along. The restaurant was perhaps 3/4 full, but we were left waiting in limbo quite some time and told our table was being prepared.
I couldn’t say it was the same outstanding experience we had just a couple of nights ago, which may be attributed to our waiter and staff. A young fellow (actor) named James was our waiter the first time around. Extremely knowledgable about the food, prep, special meats or fish and how they are selected, along with the wines. Service and food were exceptional. We shared a porterhouse the first time.
Our Sushi loving guests (2) were thrilled with their selections.
Service was very off. The waiter was pleasant enough, but not well versed. We also had to ask repeatedly for anything even for a wine list, and service was slow although the place was no where near full. There is an very large staff, so one would wonder why all the wait for everything.
Seating was not well thought out. Tables for four are only the oblong, not square. If you are a party of more than four, it’s a long banquet style. No rounds for better conversation.
We assumed because none of the four ladies at reception asked if we’d like to check our coats, that there was no place to check them. Most diners had their coats over the chairs. We later learned there is coat checking.
The atmosphere could use some warming up. It’s like being in a huge ballroom banquet room at a hotel.
All in all, I’m sure we’re part of the process of Duke getting the kinks out. They will do very well I’m sure.
I was at Duke last night also – for the first time.
We really didnt like it at all. The space is vast and cold and airplane hanger-like, and uninviting. Too bad they couldnt divide the space into smaller intimate areas…...Nothing was warm and comfortable.
I thought the food was OK, nothing phenomenal. There are much better food experiences in Rockland, and certainly restaurants with preferable ambience for a restaurant with those kinds of prices.
If they can soften it up a bit and create smaller rooms and less noise I’d reconsider and return. If i want sushi for those prices, I’ll head to Wasabi.
We went to Duke for the first time, after hearing great things about the place. It definitely met my expectations. We dine out often, and are quite picky when it comes to food. The food was excellent. The sushi/sashimi platter was really fresh and tasty. The rib eye steak was grilled to perfection and was so tender. Others at my party had equally superb experience. We will definetly return for more.
Was there last night when heard alot of good things. Well sushi was far from great was just OK and not the quality I anticipated. The revolving tray filled with sushi was not replenished when done of certain rolls. But sushi is not not pricey and a good snack ! My salad had brwon lettuce and I sent it back. The seafood soup was very good. Very diappointing that mussels were on the menu in 2 spots and when we ordered them they said they were out of mussels…not good !! The quail appetizer was good and the crabcake was OK nothing spectecular. On a whole I might give it another try but did not walk away with the feeling I had to return immediaitely.
