Thanksgiving Disaster Stories?

On another post, Joellen made this comment about the time her Thanksgiving Day was ruined because of bad instructions on her Thanksgiving takeout.

Just a funny story – one year I decided to cut corners and order my turkey and fixings done ahead of time. I ordered my turkey – which was supposed to be cooked ahead as well as the fixinings. Instructions were to hear for 1 hour. Viola – the turkey was raw – side dishes were awful – and we celebrated thanksgiving the next day. My kids made me promise never to order out again.

Burned Turkey/The Associated Press

I’ve never cooked for Thanksgiving (though I do make a turkey every year anyway), but I remember the first time I tried to smoke barbecue. I had no idea how long it was going to take. The guests arrived at 6. By 11 p.m., everyone was tanked and we had to finish the ribs in the oven. (These days, we start smoking in the wee hours of the morning.)

What about you? Do you have any Thanksgiving disaster stories?
