The Pumpernickel Restaurant in Ardsley makes its own root beer, brewed right here in Westchester by our own Captain Lawrence Brewing Company. I’d heard about the fuss for a long time and finally got the chance to try it.
It is delishy. Just a little bit spicy, a little bit minty with flavors of sasparilla and ginger. Very very nice. And what a great treasure! Pix of inside and of my lunch, after the jump.
So you walk in and are greeted with a wall showing you the upcoming bands and the day’s special.
You’re supposed to wait to be seated.

The bartendere recommended many things, including the cheese ravioli soup, the wasabi tuna, the steak sandwich and the Mediterranean salad. She also said the burgers were great.
For lunch they serve 1/4-pound burgers:

All in all a nice lunch. The owner tells me the root beer and the Reuben are going to be on FOX on Monday morning, so watch for it!
