First Look: Emma’s Ale House

Posted by: Liz Johnson - Posted in Uncategorized on Jan 22, 2009

I stopped by for a drink the new Emma’s Ale House, which took over the spot on Gedney Way in White Plains where Sunset Grill used to be. It was a goodbye party for a colleague (haven’t we all been attending a lot of those lately?), and I had other plans for dinner, so I didn’t get a chance to taste the food. But I can share the photos, and tell you that it was a very comfortable, inviting pub, with a lively crowd and amiable service.

Here’s a look around:

The bar:

Tall tables along one wall. Beer specials on the blackboard:

The back room:

The menu has American classics and Irish comfort food. My friends liked what they tasted. Sliders:

Pizza:

Free soft pretzels. (Say hello to Bob, our entertainment editor):

The crowd was lively:

My family paid our first visit to Emmas this past Saturday night and were very pleased with the Excellent service and strong Pub food. The kitchen was a bit slow so the waitress graciously offered our delayed appetizer complimentary. I tried the crab cake sandwich and enjoyed it. My wife has Fish and Chip, she was very happy with it.
A bit noisy but solid food and very gracious service. We’ll be back!

Was initially disappointed that the “replacement” for Sunset Grille was going to be yet another WP pub, but the menu, food and service won me over. This is a great place for sliders (choice of beef, meatball, sliced filet and lobster!) and the desserts are decent too.
