Of course I’m always looking for make ahead one pot meals.

More recipes: great one-post meals.

I’m having some people over tomorrow night, and I wanted a warming winter meal that I can make ahead. While poking around online for a recipe, I decided not to let my research go to waste. Here are a few options I discovered. The Bon Appetit ones are the simplest. The Epicurious ones are medium-hard and the Food & Wine ones, while not hard, take more time.

Holiday cooking: Ideas and recipes for Halloween.

Spicy Lamb and Chorizo Chili. (Bon App)
Curried Red Lentil and Swiss Chard Stew with Garbanzo Beans. (Bon App)
Chinese Chicken Noodle Soup with Sesame and Green Onions (Bon App)
Hungarian Goulash Soup. (Bon App)
Chicken Paprikash (Epi)
Potato, Chive and Cheddar Soup (Epi)
Provencal Chicken Stew. (Epi)
Lamb Tagine with Green Olives and Lemon. (F&W)
Baked Orecchiette with Pork Sugo (F&W)
Farro Salad with Fried Cauliflower and Prosciutto. (F&W)

Plus, don’t forget this earlier post: Two Easy, Do-Ahead Dinners for Halloween. (Recipes for Rick Bayless’ Slow-Cooked Chicken with Tomatillos, Potatoes, Jalapenos and Fresh Herb; and Nigella Lawson’s Coq au Riesling. You can make either in the crock pot or slow cooker.)

I’ve decided on Creamy White Bean Soup with Chorizo, which I’ll serve with cornbread. I’m going to do butterscotch pudding for dessert (also make-ahead).

I’ll let you know how it turns out!
