13 Pounds in 3 weeks!

Guest Blogger Emily here, and after following Joy’s LIFE Diet for 3 weeks, I lost 13 pounds!  The finale of Joy’s Life Diet Challenge on the Today show aired Monday.  In case you missed it, watch here.  The Fit Friends won the challenge with a total weight loss of 77 pounds.  The Motivated Moms did a great job with a total weight loss of 48 pounds.

After losing 13 pounds, my clothes are fitting better, I am starting to see the changes in my body, and I feel great!  To complement this new lifestyle, my teammate Basil gave me a makeover!  He and his wife Maria own NY Jungle Salon in Tappan, so naturally they fixed everyone up for our big reveal on TV.  Basil completely transformed my hair, taking me from a safe brunette style to a cutting edge red style, and I love it!  I feel like a new person!  Maria cut and colored Marjory’s hair, accenting her style for TV.  Basil & Maria’s daughter, Zoe, even helped giving Marjory a purple streak!  Basil gave Maria a few canary yellow streaks in her hair; they look very cool and really popped on tv.  Maria cut Basil’s platinum white hair for a sleek look.  And since Daout has no hair, he got a massage!

My new hair makeover!

With the diet over, I was worried that I would not follow the plan as strictly as I have been.  But my team is going to continue following the plan.  We will still be weighing in weekly and having our conference calls  with Joy Bauer to stay on track.  More good news came today; the Today show wants to continue following us to see how we progress, and we will be back on in March!  So the motivation is back on.

Stay tuned here, and I will fill you in on what the rest of the steps are like on Joy’s LIFE Diet.  Keep your tips coming!  How do you stick with a diet plan/lifestyle change long term?

  1. As a weight loss specialist, i am really impressed with your weight loss. i would say that Joy’s diet did a good job. keep up the good work

  2. Congrats to all on your weight loss however in order to maintain this loss long term you will have to include daily exercise. In the long term diets do not work because you simply cannot continue to maintain. You must do daily aerobic(walking, running, biking etc.) and resistance training (weight lifting, pushups etc.). Keep up the good work.

  3. Hey great job on losing the weight! To keep it off in the long run I suggest taking up weight lifting! Lifting weights builds muscle which in turn, burns more calories, helping you to lose weight and firm up. It is much easier to keep off the weight when you weight train because your body will burn more calories even at rest. You don’t have to worry about bulking up if you don’t want to.
