I tried out the new hot dog joint in Tarrytown for lunch today.
I will answer your most pressing question first: a Lubin is a made-up culinary term. It’s the restaurant’s own creation of slow-roasted beef with spices served on a hot dog bun. It’s kind of like pulled pork, but it’s beef, and it’s kind of like a sloppy joe, but it’s chuck meat, not ground beef. It’s absolutely delicious.
Yeah. Not very good for you, I imagine.

So the inside of the place is about as big as an office cubicle.

That’s Tommy Squazzo.. His family owned Squazzo’s Deli in Irvington for years.
He made our Lubin and our Link. We walked around the back to the municipal lot. There’s a wooden fence there and a gate that says “Lubins and Links.” Open it and you are in a courtyard garden with tables.

Once again, here’s the Lubin. This is called the “Lubin (regulation)”.
It’s made with cheese sauce, “jubee” onions sauce and hot cherry peppers. Halfway through:
I’m not sure I should be injesting this without consuming alcohol. It seems like perfect drunk food to me.

I like mayo on my hot dogs. It’s a Southern thing, I think. And this was very very good, but IMO it did not beat out the Lubin on the delicious front.
“Jubee” onion sauce is a recipe handed down from grandma that has savory and sweet flavors combined with roasted onions and shallots. You can get a bunch of other toppings, including chili (Dad’s recipe), Mama’s Spicy Kraut, Cheese Sauce, Hot or Sweet Roasted Cherry Peppers and Mama’s Homemade Onion Relish.
There are also other specialties, including the Gi Gi (no meat), the Owber (PBJ on a hot dog bun), the Elbert (a cup of chili with sliced links topped with cheese sauce) and Maisy’s Mashed (mashed topped with chili and cheese).
There are no fries.
