Top Chef Cook Off at the Greater New York Wine & Food Festival
I was one of the judges for the Top Chef cookoff during the second Grand Tasting at the GNYWFF Saturday night. Here’s a slideshow of snaps.

The cookoff was between Leah Cohen of Season 5 and Lisa Fernandes of Season 4. Leah went first and served an appetizer of lobster tortellini with frizzled candied carrots and a crispy cod in tomato broth. Lisa went second and served tempura soft shells with salad with almonds and scallops with a beet garnish. Leah won. Hometown advantage and all.
The last part of the event was casino night, a benefit for the Maria Fareri Children Hospital. I decided to enjoy the party instead of blogging it, too. Hope you’ll forgive me!
I must say I think this was our most successful wine fest yet. Now that the Doubletree Hotel is finally finished construction, there was plenty of room to move around. There was delicious food (and plenty of it) at the Friday night party. On Saturday, the wines were delicious, chef demos were great, and the Top Chef cookoff was fun, too.
What did you think? I’d love to hear from you all…
