All the info from a press release:

Frankie & Fanucci’s is a wood oven pizza restaurant in Hartsdale, NY. It is a friendly,
neighborhood kind of place that is reminiscent of a time past when life was simpler. A place that
combines an appreciation for a great pie, the quintessential comfort food, and a ‘take it easy’
atmosphere that invites people to escape the hustle of today’s rushed world.

The Menu
Again, simplicity is the key. Frankie & Fanucci’s tries to do just a few things, and do them well.
An 8,500 lb. wood burning pizza oven is the only piece of cooking equipment in the place. There
are no fryers, stoves, grills or microwaves. Just a big wood oven.

Wood Oven Pizza – Here, we make a simple, thin crust pizza cooked in a traditional wood
burning oven at 800 degrees, using the finest mozzarella, hand-milled plum tomatoes and fresh
basil. Personal 10” and large 16” pies are made to order in only three to four minutes

The Rest of The Menu
Also offered is a range of appetizers, including a few from our wood
oven such as Meatball Sliders – mini meatball sandwiches – and Wood-Fired Baked Clams. High
quality salads – all available on a pizza crust – and a range of Panini served on a fresh baked,
wood oven roll round out the menu. Beer and wine are served along with classic espresso drinks.
Mini desserts – such as the Broken Napoleon – are there for those who just want a few sweet
bites. Traditional delights such as Tiramisu and gelato are other classic treats.

The Atmosphere
Guests are often surprised at the welcoming décor and warm environment, something not
typically found in a pizzeria. The design is reminiscent of a time when life was stylish but
simpler. The space boasts an open kitchen, exposing the large wood burning oven. Guests feel
part of the process in celebrating a social space offering high quality, fresh foods.
The brick and marble façade of the building add to the character of the village. Inside, the use of
rich woods, Carrera marble, black and white mosaic tiles, roomy black leather booths and
clusters of exposed bulb pendant lighting create a welcoming, relaxed environment.

The Guys Behind It
Frankie & Fanucci’s was created to express the spirit of the two guys behind it, Angelo Viscoso
and Brad Nagy, who grew up together as kids in the boroughs of New York. The two paisans
both agree they should have been born in a different era when times were simpler. Even in
college, while their fellow students were off drinking cheap beer, the two were fixtures in the
Little Italy section of Boston for evenings of Italian classics, Chianti and espresso in the cafes.
They share an appreciation for great pizza and insisted on a traditional wood-burning oven to
create the best possible product.

“We describe our place as ‘simple’ because that’s what we feel people need today, simplicity in
their lives,” say the guys. “We wanted to create a friendly neighborhood place where people can
take it easy and enjoy a really high-quality product, at an affordable price, in a more polished
atmosphere than you typically find in a pizzeria. We think we’ve accomplished that here.”

I was there last week, had a plain personal size pie. I thought that the sauce and crust were a little bland. Great chewy texture to the crust, even though it’s really thin. I don’t really like crispy, crunchy crust, like at all’Antica. If I go back, I think I’ll try one of the pies with toppings, because the plain was, well, plain. The pizza is not as good as what I had in Naples, but it’s not bad. Just needs some more flavor in the basic crust and sauce.

Nice decor, decent selection of beers. I had a Brooklyn Lager. Service at the counter was a little irregular, the waitstaff seems to pay more attention to the tables. It’s also awkward to have to turn around to talk to the waiter, if you’re sitting at the counter. It’s fun to watch the pizzaiolos putting the pies together, though. Whatever bugs the service has will probably shake themselves out as they get into a groove.

Thanks for the report, Walt! I look forward to trying it myself.

I think the pizza is one of the best is Westchester. My wife, who is not a big fan of pizza in general loves the place. We have been there 3 times already. The only negative is the lights in the booths. They are way too bright but I understand that they are working on that.

my husband and i love this place. since it opened we have ordered like 10 pies ( take out) already. we tried their salads too and we just loved it. my favorite is the caprino salad. everything there is fresh so you will never be disappointed. we’re happy that a pizzeria this good opened in hartsdale. we don’t need to go to the city to get a really good pizza.
