Bring on the Margaritas: Guadalajara is Back

Staff writer Barbara Livingston Nackman (who is also a blogger for our Book by Book blog — here’s a cool event she posted about at JP Doyle’s) went for dinner the other day. She wrote this for us:

Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant on Route 9 at Union Street in Briarcliff is back. Just
about 7 months ago a big fire shut the place down. Luckily the blaze did not
cause any injuries but plenty of property damage. Many fans of the
restaurant were left without a place to get some spicy  guacamole made at
the table or a platter of Enchiladas Suizas.

The wait is over. Guadalajara re-opened this week and has been busy every
night.  On Monday, the first day, even those with reservations waited at
least a half hour for a table.  It was busy all evening. I left at 9:30 and
it was still packed.

Exterior walls are redone and inside it all looks very similar with tiles
floors, wooden tables and straw placemats.  Even the roaming musicians were
back and greeting many guests with kisses, hugs and tuneful favorites.

I’ll get the 411 back up asap.
