I’m posting this live from Potato Republic in New City, where the french fries are hand-cut and the wifi is free.
Truly amazing fries. Crispy on the outside, soft and puff on the inside. Skins still on. And two dips: Jamaican curry and peanut sauce. There’s a choice of more than 20, including Caesar, ranch, bbq and a ton more.
The place looks more like a coffee shop than a restaurant. And it works like that too. You place your order at the counter and then sit down. They bring you the food:
There are couches and more comfortable chairs in a raised area near the front window:
I also got the lentil soup:
Nice on a chilly fall day. But a little one-dimensional. And a bit too much black pepper for my taste.
The menu also offers wraps (a lot of people are ordering wraps), salads, pasta dishes and burgers and sandwiches.
Jury duty pros:
You can walk from the courthouse.
Quiet place to work.
Jury duty cons:
You can walk from the courthouse. I see my court reporter ordering lunch at the counter as I write this.
Not sure how the other food is.
Jury duty rating: Three out of four gavels.
