Sneak Peek: Cafe Barcel
Cafe Barcel, the new restaurant on Nyack’s Main Street, opened on Saturday.
I haven’t had a chance to get there for dinner yet, but I did have brunch across the street at Didier Dumas. So while I was there, I snapped these photos so y’all could see the huge change they made, well, to Change:
They opened up the whole front of the restaurant. The windows open to the street. The bar is on the right side.

I LOVE Barcel!!!!
Was there last night. Jen at the Bar was a sweetheart….. The food was really great. We had the Greens salad (small portion I thought), the Gnocci, the Garganelli pasta, and the Hangar Steak Frites with Chimichurri Sauce.
Nidia, the Owner and Kevin, the Chef came over and talked to us for a while… Really nice people.
We will definitely be back – frequently…..
My only suggestion is the pricing doesnt seem to make sense to me….. I think its great that all the entrees are $12 to $20 to attract cost conscious diner’s but the appetizer prices, which are all from $10 – $15 are too high if thats the case and will scare people away. I would think they would want to sell lots of appetizers to build the check, and cost conscious people may not want to spend $12 or $14 for an appetizer. Price the appetizers from $7 to $10.
If you dont care about attracting cost conscious people, then keep the appetizer prices high and raise the entree prices (not what I am recommending in this economy)
Finally a restaurant with style and substance..Food was delicious and the service was attentive and professional.
