Caffe Azzurri To Open Sunday in Hartsdale
Caffe Azzurri (I had a misspelling as Cafe earlier), a New American restaurant with influences from the Mediterranean and Asia, will open Sunday in the spot that used to be Piave — and before that Cafe Meze.
Partners Jerry Colella and Michael Agrusa will serve an eclectic menu. Appetizers include clams or mussels with a Thai basil coconut curry and tuna tartare with avocado. Pastas include tortoloni with a wild mushroom sauce and Barolo wine veal ragout; and a squid ink linguine with calamari, clams and mussels. Two of the entrees are Chilean sea bas served with broccli rabe, Tuscan beans and a red pepper coulis; and a pan-seared, bone-in rib eye with wilted arugula and fingerling potatoes.
Cafe Azzurri will have a wine-bar and lounge where the bar and front dining area used to be in the old restaurants. There will be a hardwood floor, low tables and sofa seating, as well as 25 wines by the glass. The granite island that separates the two dining areas will be used for wine service, and the wines will be displayed there. The lounge will have a cafe menu with appetizers and small plate portions of the entrees on the regular menu.
There is also carpeting in the dining area now.

There seems to be a misunderstanding on how this sentence is phrased. “Cafe Azzurri will have a wine-bar and lounge where the bar and front dining area used to be in the old restaurants.” I was speaking with the owners and there is an entire dining room that seats 70 guests in addition to the bar and lounge area. I was under the impression, as well as other people, that this was only a wine bar. Can you please get the word out that this is a restaurant and wine bar.
