Nonna’s Restaurant Opens in Nanuet

Partners Phil Menna and Mike Kabashi have opened Nonna’s Restaurant in Nanuet, serving “fresh quailty food at an affordable price,” says Menna.

Kabashi is also a partner in several other Nonna restaurants, including in Peekskill, Yorktown and Stamford, Conn. All are similar in philosophy and layout: a casual seating area in front; dining room in the back.

In the front, you’ll find a brick pizza oven, marble  and displays of about 20 different pizzas you can get by the slice. Menna says one of the specialties is Margherita, with fresh mozzarella, sliced tomatoes and basil; another is a Grandma Pie, with fresh mozzarella and plum tomatoes.

In the back is a dining room with wooden tables, decorated in Tuscan colors such as gold, orange and burgundy. Well-priced entrees such as pastas, chicken, veal, seafood, soups and salads are available. Of course, you can also get pizza there.

The 411 is coming, but for now: the restaurant is at 259 E. Route 59 in the PC Richards Shopping Center. It’s open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. 845-623-3335.
