14th Annual Take Heart Against Hunger Wine Dinner at Abigail Kirsch for Food Bank of Westchester

Valentine’s Day Gourmet Wine Tasting Dinner to Raise Funds to Fight Hunger

Millwood, NY – (January 4, 2010) – The Food Bank for Westchester, which is celebrating its 20th year of fighting hunger in Westchester, will host Take Heart Against Hunger. The event will take place on Friday, February 5, 2010 at Abigail Kirsch at Tappan Hill, 81 Highland Avenue, Tarrytown, NY. Take Heart Against Hunger will begin at 6pm with a cocktail hour, followed by dinner at 7pm.

Event chair is Rick Rakow of Pleasantville, President & CEO of Rakow Commercial Realty and Food Bank for Westchester Board member.

Alison Awerbuch, partner/Executive Chef of Abigail Kirsch Culinary Productions, will help guests celebrate Valentine’s Day with delicious style. She will demonstrate her culinary talents by preparing a unique five-course gourmet dinner with fine wines specially selected to accompany each course.

All proceeds generated at the event will benefit Food Bank for Westchester, the supply and support center for nearly 200 hunger relief member agencies, including food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters. In Westchester County, twenty percent of residents are hungry or at risk of hunger. Of that population, 36% are children and nearly 15 percent are senior citizens.

The Food Bank for Westchester, one of eight food banks in New York State, acquires, warehouses and distributes food to 200 Westchester County hunger relief organizations, including food pantries and soup kitchens, among others. These efforts feed some or all of the 200,000 people in Westchester who are hungry or at risk of hunger. The Food Bank mission is supported by an extensive donor and volunteer network.

Individual tickets cost $250, and a table of ten may be purchased for $2,250. Sponsorship levels from $1,500 to $10,000 are available.
