Sausage and Beer Master Class, Part 2

Posted by: Liz Johnson - Posted in Uncategorized on Feb 10, 2010

The sausage master class I blogged about earlier had two parts to it. After we learned about the sausage part, we learned about the beer part. We went over to Captain Lawrence Brewing Company in Pleasantville, where owner and brewer Scott Vacarro taught us all about how to make beer.

The Tap Room was busy, as it always is on Saturday. You can come in for samples and fill your growlers:

Scott has won many medals.

The home brewing club was in the back work area:

Here’s Scott, talking to our group about how he makes the beer.

Scott gives complimentary tastings and tours between 4 and 7 p.m. Fridays and noon and 6 p.m. Saturdays, but this was a real detailed lesson on how to brew beer. Basically Scott is making the same recipes he developed on a stovetop when he was a teenager, just on a much bigger scale.

He didn’t give us the actual recipes — but we did get samples: of all the different beers he makes.
