On March 24, a Passover Seder for Developmentally Disabled
From a press release:
WJCS Havorah Program, Temple Shaaray Tefila (TST) and Jewish Women International (JWI) will host its 23rd Annual Community Passover Seder for Persons with Developmental Disabilities on Wednesday, March 24 at 6:00 PM at Temple Shaaray Tefila in Bedford Corners. More than 185 guests are expected to hear the Passover story as told in word and song by Rabbi David Greenberg. Special guest of honor will be Mitchell Levitz, co-author of “Count Us In: Growing up with Down Syndrome.” Seder guests also will enjoy a delicious three-course traditional Passover meal thanks to the generosity of many local restaurants, caterers and stores.
Chaired by Laura Copel of Yorktown (JWI), Lynne Perman Schneider (TST), and Gail Oliver of Newburgh (WJCS Havorah Coordinator), the dinner will involve more than 60 adult and teen volunteers representing congregations throughout Westchester. As a result of Passover food drives organized by various synagogues. Traditionally, a religious school class creates an original Hagaddah for the event. This year’s edition is being designed and published by the students of Congregation B’nai Israel in Armonk.
Admission is $10 per person For further information, contact Gail Oliver at 845-565-8610 or gailao@aol777.com.
