Good morning and happy Monday. Absolutely gorgeous weekend, wasn’t it?
I tried the new Juniper restaurant in Hastings-on-Hudson on Friday night. The food was terrific. I’ll post a full report soon, but for now, here’s the delicious striped bass:
After that, we headed to Life The Place to Be for the 6th birthday part for 107.1 The Peak. Fun stuff.
On Saturday morning, I took the dog I’m pet sitting for a super-long walk all around Nyack. And yes, I was one of those people who tied him up outside the Nyack Library while I went in to get my book. (My club has finished All the King’s Men. We’re starting on A Farewell to Arms. And yes, I’m still working on Moby Dick. [Insert embarrassed face here.])
After the library, I got a lemonade at the Art Cafe, and was reminded of how delicious that menu looks. I’ll have to give them another try soon. Anyone been recently? The tables on the front patio sure are inviting in nice weather.
My brother was in town from North Carolina for the weekend, so we had him over for supper on Saturday. We grilled a flank steak and some asparagus, and roasted sweet potatoes with rosemary and thyme:
For dessert, we cut up strawberries and let them sit a while with balsamic vinegar and sugar. I served them over a whipped mix of ricotta and mascarpone.
Delishy.
On Sunday morning, I went out to brunch at the Hudson House. Wow. That food just keeps getting better and better. A full report to come, but here’s the eggs with English muffin and sausage gravy:
And here’s what I’m calling the “fancy” Eggs Benedict. (More on that in the post.)
And with that, here’s what people have been talking about this weekend:
The Hudson Valley Wine Goddess has your ticket to summer wine tasting. (HVWG)
The Lowdown on (sort of) local Pizza Rusticas (aka Easter Pie). (SS)
MH really liked Roasted Peppers. (NYT)
Emily tries Mango Mix, a new juice bar in Larchmont. (NYT)
The hounds debate which restaurant has the best bread basket. (CH)
And they discuss party room recommendations in Westchester. (CH)
Recommendations for restaurants in Tarrytown. (CH)
A discussion of the food at Tavern at Croton Landing. (CH)

Please never, ever leave dogs unattended. There are big bounties for dogs at cruel testing labs, and it is very easy to just take the dog, turn him over to the lab and collect $50. Not to mention the frivolous wiseguy just stealing a dog for “fun”.
Better yet, move to France where you can take your dog EVERYWHERE!
