A Tasting of Billy Rattner’s Hudson Wine Farms in Pearl River Saturday

Billy Rattner, the wine director of the Xaviars Restaurant Group,  has started a new local wine label he’s calling Hudson Wine Farms.

According to Billy, “The wines are the collaborative result of talented Hudson Valley Winemakers and Grape Growers and my passionate belief that cool-climate, Loire Valley Style wines can be grown and made in our backyard that is the Hudson Valley.”

There will be a tasting at noon to 3 p.m. Saturday September 25th Shop-Rite Liquors/Pearl River Wines, 46 North Middletown Road, Pearl River, 845-735-2023.

He also held a tasting at the Village Vintner in Nyack back in July. I attended —

— and bought a few bottles, too. I haven’t drank them yet, so I can’t give you any tasting notes, but that’s what the tasting is for! Go and try for yourself. Billy is super-knowledgeable about wines, and he’s great at translating geeky winespeak into a language anyone can understand. Just ask.
