Hi everyone! My name is Kristina Massari and I’m again joining the guest blogging effort for Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. I’m a forever Westchesterite living now in Mount Kisco, a great town for dining out! My location works out great because, as a busy public relations professional, I don’t have much time to cook, let alone do dishes. I always go for a restaurant with chic atmosphere, an innovative drink list, and when it comes to food – the spicier, the better. I’m also an avid runner which is a key hobby to have when you like food and dining out!
Mostly, I love food for its ability to bring people and families together. I grew up in a European household where how much I was loved was demonstrated by the number of courses in my meals (which was many), and which I could only reciprocate by finishing every crumb on my plate and never declaring “I’m full.” Saying “I’m not hungry” was usually answered with a filet of flounder, grilled chicken, potatoes done three different ways, half a dozen fresh vegetables from the garden, bread from Arthur Avenue, and brownies, marble cake and tri-colored cookies for dessert. That is considered eating light. And of course, we never needed much of a reason to have a party and cook a spread of food, which wouldn’t have been complete without a pig or a lamb on a spit in the front yard. That’s right, a little touch of Europe right here in Westchester….and shock for our neighbors.
My many family dinners over the years have prepared me well for restaurant week. I’m ready to report back on my experience at one of the many great restaurants participating this year. Check back later this month for my post!
