Hello, readers! I am pleased to be one of this year’s HVRW restaurant reviewers. My name is Lisette Reyes and from an early age, I’ve had a considerable interest in food and cooking. I grew up in Rockland County being the oldest of four siblings. At 9 years old, I was making curious concoctions (my younger siblings were always my guinea-pigs) by putting together unconventional ingredients. Much to my delight, I always got the “thumbs up” from my taste-testers, thus encouraging me to continue developing my skill.
In addition to being inventive in the kitchen, I love eating the intriguing and exotic cuisines of different areas of the world. My television set is always tuned to a cooking channel and I own countless cookbooks. My family, friends, and coworkers consider me a “self-trained food connoisseur”, which I regard as a great honor! Although my formal training is in Social Work, one of my dreams is to start a catering business someday, maybe even take a few courses at a local culinary school. In the meantime, I will continue to learn and travel the world through food!
