Food Finds in the Lower Hudson Valley

My name is Jeff McDowell and I currently live in Nanuet with my partner, Pat Cose.   While I grew up in Rockland County (Nyack High School graduate)  for much of my adult life, I have lived elsewhere.

I have lived in NYC, in Westchester and spent eleven years living in Detroit and Chicago and three years in Seattle.  Seattle remains a favorite place to visit and the Pike Place Market has to be my idea of heaven on earth.  I am a university administrator by vocation, but my avocation is cooking – I have taken cooking classes at New York’s Institute of Culinary Education, the Balleymaloe Cookery School in Ireland and the Baking Center at King Arthur Flour in Vermont.

I think cooking like life can pose questions, for example should I use Umbrian extra virgin olive oil or Irish butter?  And, like life it all depends.   I am looking forward to my participation in the Hudson Valley Restaurant Week.
