Donna Monaco Olsen is an avid cook, loves to bake and watches or reads everything cooking related in her spare time. She is the Co-coordinator for Westchester Community College’s Continuing Education program aptly called “A Taste of Westchester”. She recruits chefs to do cooking demonstrations in their restaurants. There are some great classes going on right now and you can check them out at www.sunywcc.edu. She makes custom designed cakes and cupcakes at The Cupcake Kitchen & Luncheonette in Irvington. She has also written for the Journal News-LoHud, writing for Liz Johnson’s Food Finds and Small Bites.
Donna’s husband Bradley Olsen will be teaming up with her to review some of the restaurants this year. In the past, his participation has been limited to the eating segment. He works in a design firm in Dobbs Ferry, and has participated in the design of many local restaurants over his 25 year career. He is ready to eat his way through the list of restaurants being reviewed. He enjoys the food creativity of the many talented chefs, including his wife.
This year the duo will dine in over ten of the 150 plus fabulous offerings at www.hudsonvalleyrestaurantweek.com. They are looking forward to the two weeks of dining out with friends and experiencing new restaurants along with new cuisines. It is a great opportunity to try some of the restaurants you may have been considering but never get around to sampling. There is a fantastic list of places this year, including some James Beard award nominees.
This is the second year reviewing for HVRW and they are excited to taste and talk about the creative and delicious things they will discover. As with many restaurant reviewers they travel incognito so here is a photo of Pucci and Sinatra waiting at the door for the leftovers to arrive!
