Hudson Valley Restaurant Week: Meet Guest Blogger Charlotte Abram

Hi there!  My name is Charlotte Abram and I am currently a server at Moderne Barn restaurant in Armonk.  A passionate food lover since (I’m told) infancy, my interest in food has only increased over the years.  I graduated from SUNY Geneseo last May with majors in Math and Spanish, and now I’m pursuing a career in the food industry.  Though I have no particular path in mind, I am hoping my gastronomic compass will lead me in the right direction.

Food is a huge part of my life; while I do enjoy going out to eat (favorite places in Westchester include City Limits, Lefteris, Restaurant North, and Sushi Mike’s) I also love to cook and bake.  I had the opportunity to work in the kitchen at Café Meze (in Hartsdale, when it was still open) with Chef Mark Fillipo; I did mostly prep work, but also made salads and desserts on the line.  It was an amazing experience, and solidified my interest in the industry (it also inspired me to learn Spanish).  I have continued to cook at home, trying new recipes and experimenting with different types of food (I once spent an entire summer determined to make the world’s first banana cookie.  Some say it was a fail, I feel there is still potential).

My other interests include hiking and spending time in the wilderness, working out, and playing my flamenco guitar.  I’m looking forward to some good meals during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week—can’t wait to hear about everyone’s experiences!
