Hi, I’m Debbie Gioquindo and I’m honored to be a guest blogger for Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. I’ve been blogging about Hudson Valley Wines for the past 6 years as Hudson Valley Wine Goddess and do include restaurants or meals I prepare that include a wine or wine pairing. It is a passion of mine to get the Hudson Valley recognized for the wonderful culinary establishment in the region and the wine that is produced here.
My passion for food stems from growing up in a home where meals were prepared very plain. As soon as I was on my own I began reading cookbooks and preparing recipes of all kinds. I have an entire bookcase full of cookbooks. I knew I reached a milestone when my husband said my sauce was better than his mothers. (His mother wasn’t too happy.) My husband and I became interested in wine in the 1990’s and I recently completed the American Wine Society’s Certified Specialist of Wine designation and the Wines of Origins, Wine Location Specialist.
Dining out during restaurant week is something we look forward to every year. It’s a chance for us to eat at restaurants we haven’t tried but have been wanting to.
