Union Restaurant in Haverstraw: Hudson Valley Restaurant Week 2011

Hello everyone it’s Healthy Chef Angela Rivera hoping everyone is enjoying restaurant week as much as I am.  As always I was so pleased with my dinner at Union restaurant in Haverstraw.

The food was great as usual and Paolo, one of the owners, was a charmer as always. (He’s a huge reason I love going there.) My girlfriend was ecstatic that they had their famous pinto bean ravioli on the menu.  We had all of the appetizers.

Lychee-Coco Soup Shrimp Tiradito & crispy cornbread crouton:

Guacamole Tomatillo Salsa with Chimol & smoked paprika tortilla chips:

Crispy Rock Shrimp Frito with Jicama, romaine leaf, dulce & agrio sauce:

Pinto Bean Ravioli with White truffe oil, chorizo & queso seco:

BBQ Pork Quesadilla with Jack Cheese, Cucumber annd Napa Cabbage Cole Slaw:

The rock shrimp and the guacamole were definitely my favorite!  The coco shrimp soup was presented so cute we didn’t even want to eat it and mess up the presentation.

I went lite on the main course so I decided to have the fish.

What a great spring dish.  A lightly pan fried hake with a bean ragout and chard and I loved it.

Both of my girlfriends had the panko crusted pork chop with the tomato arugula salad.

They really enjoyed the balance of a nice pan fried pork chop with a light salad.

For dessert, we enjoyed the apple fritter:

the coconut rice pudding brulee:

and the waffle yum yum:

By the end of the night we were so full we figured we wouldn’t have to eat for a few days.

I’d like to end on this note: Union is a great place to eat, not just for Restaurant Week, but any time.
