Pizzarelli Pizzeria in Pleasantville (Say That 5 Times Fast)

Members of Westchester’s pizza-making Zegarelli family, including Matteo Zegarelli Jr., below, are bringing their family’s secret sauce to their new pizzeria in Pleasantville. On the menu: pizzas, wraps, specialty vegetable slices, salads — such as a popular grilled chicken salad — and entrees including the much-requested Chicken a la Silvia (chicken with prosciutto, broccoli rabe, fresh mozzarella, and sherry wine).
Entrees, which are served with spaghetti, ziti or salad, are priced up to $15.75. And what about that secret recipe for the restaurant’s pizza sauce? “It has been in the family forever,” Lugrezia Zegarelli tells us, adding her husband, Matteo Zegarelli, above, was born in Italy and he has been in the pizza business for more than 20 years. Pizzarelli offers delivery and takeout. If you’d rather stay and have a slice, a few small tables are available inside and outside the eatery.
