The Boat Bar — Waterfront at the Boathouse in Ossining

How did I go all summer without knowing this? The Boathouse restaurant in Ossining, known for causal waterfront dining and killer burgers, opened a Boat Bar. That’s its name. But what I mean by that is that it’s a bar made from a boat. And it’s right on the water. Right. On. The. Water.

Who wouldn’t want to sit on one of those stools and watch the world go by? Bartender Gene Gioio, a skilled craftsman, hollowed the interior and installed coolers and running water. There’s even a blender (see? stern-side?). There are 24 stools and six tables nearby. You can order anything off the menu at the Boathouse and then carry it out to dine waterfront. It’s even covered to give you shade.

Meanwhile, the Boathouse still has its outdoor patio, too. Get there quick, before summer’s over!
