A great cup of coffee can be destination-worthy. This week, with many people home from work, is an optimal opportunity to try out a new cuppa Joe at a brand new coffee spot. We have a few great recommendations for the best coffee shops in Westchester and Rockland from local residents.

Calce’s picks: “72 Main Street recently opened up and it’s a wonderful coffee place. I feel a little disloyal by mentioning just a few, but I absolutely must mention my favorite den of decadent eating — Didier Dumas Bakery. I tend to come here a lot; I love the coffee, and the live music here.” There are special blends, beans from South America, Indonesia and Africa, along with organic blends, pastries, muffins and scones, along with ample seating. Art Cafe: The artful foam swirls on the capuccino is enough justification to make the trip to this cozy and colorful cafe. But there are also macchiato, mochaccino and Turkish coffee drinks, too, along with lots of seating and a menu of breakfast and lunch items, including salads and toastinis.
