A great cup of coffee can be destination-worthy. This week, with many people home from work, is an optimal opportunity to try out a new cuppa Joe at a brand new coffee spot. We have a few great recommendations for the best coffee shops in Westchester and Rockland from local residents.

Calce, the executive director of the Westchester Italian Cultural Center in Tuckahoe has a lot of options near her downtown village office.

Calce’s picks: “72 Main Street recently opened up and it’s a wonderful coffee place. Derry, a longtime New Hempstead resident, is a well-known vocal coach who has worked with Marc Anthony and Katy Perry. His coffee stops are pretty basic.

Derry’s picks: “We like Bagel Boys Cafe in Suffern.” Along with traditional coffee, they also serve Snickerdoodle Coffee, bagels, of course, along with sandwches and wraps. Details: Open 5 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday; 5 a.m.-3 p.m Sunday. 9 N. Airmont Road, Airmont, 845-368-3456.

DeCicco’s family is the founder of DeCicco’s Marketplace and the coffee there, of course, is tops. But this stand-up comedian has been known to get her caffeine fix elsewhere:

Monaco lives in Upper Grandview and works in downtown Nyack as the CEO of Group M, a boutique public relations firm. She likes to spread the love around and shop local whenever and wherever she can and that includes her coffee.

Monaco’s picks: “There are so many wonderful shops in Nyack and Piermont that I frequent. I feel a little disloyal by mentioning just a few, but I absolutely must mention my favorite den of decadent eating — Didier Dumas Bakery. Heavenly.” Along with coffee, capuccino and espresso, there are pastries, crepes, and cakes, and tarts. A few tables are available for diners. Jopling was born in London, and at the age of 14 made her concerto debut playing violin at the Royal Albert Hall. The classical rock violinist now makes her home in Peekskill, where she has lots of dining options.

I tend to come here a lot; I love the coffee, and the live music here.” There are special blends, beans from South America, Indonesia and Africa, along with organic blends, pastries, muffins and scones, along with ample seating.
