Organic Baby Spinach Recall in New York due to E. Coli Threat

Taylor Farms Retail, Inc. has issued a precautionary spinach recall in 39 states, including New York, due to a threat of E. coli bacteria. The spinach in question is sold in salad trays under several brand names in the Taylor Farms family. The following brands are listed as potentially dangerous: Central Market Organics, Full Circle Organic, Marketside Organic, Simple Truth Organic and Taylor Farms Organic.

Taylor Farms says the market withdrawal is voluntary and that there have been no reported illnesses so far. They are urging consumers to exercise caution and throw away any Organic Baby Spinach products from the listed brands with a “best by” date of 2/24/2013.

E. Coli infections vary but can be pretty miserable, with fever, stomach cramps, vomiting, diarrhea, pneumonia and other illnesses. It is important to seek medical help if you think you might be infected. For more information on the recalled brands and E. coli bacteria, visit the Taylor Farms website or call their hotline, 855-293-9811.
