We’ve been long-time fans of the Bedford Post Inn, a farm-to-table restaurant, cafe and inn owned by Richard Gere and Carey Lowell, nestled in picturesque Northern Westchester. The estate is historic, not to mention stunningly restored and maintained.
The cafe, located in The Barn, is the more casual of the two dining options. Styled with marbled counter seating, rustic beams and an outdoor patio, it’s a lovely spot to grab some gourmet food and drink. Formerly only serving breakfast and lunch, The Barn is now offering weekday dinners. Menu standouts are warm biscuits with lardo and honey, or roasted organic chicken, served with polenta and Brussels sprouts. But be prepared to make a tough choice, everything looks good (see the complete menu here).
The Farmhouse is a bit more formal, but not stuffy and certainly on trend. Beginning March 3, chef Jeremy McMillan will be kicking of their Global Grilling Series. Every other Sunday he will feature a different country and serve a four-course prix fixe grilled menu inspired by the region. The first installment will be the Argentinian Parilla, Sunday March 3, is $55 per person and includes a signature Argentinean cocktail and wine pairing. Some of the planned dishes are Carbonada, beef stew served inside a charred squash and Remolacha, ash roasted beet with horseradish, poppy seeds and whipped ricotta. Reservations are available from 5:30 to 9 p.m. If you go, tweet us @small_bites, we would love to see pictures and hear what you liked!
