On an absolutley dreary afternoon, Patrice Costa and I (Margaret Rizzuto) took a rainy ride over to Cold Spring for lunch. While we may not have collected a lot of points in the HVRW Scavenger Hunt, we did enjoy a very nice meal in a picturesque setting along the river at The Hudson House. While we were still shaking off the dampness and rain, our server brought over beautiful, hot pop-overs with strawberry butter — we knew without question that we were off to good start. Popovers and strawberry butter!
We ordered straight fromt the HVRW menu which had Patrice starting with crispy Vegetable Spring Rolls while I had a Ceasar Salad with a creamy home-made dressing.
We both decided to go with the Dijon Crab Crusted Salmon, however, I had mine sans the crab. I always appreciate when a restaurant is willing to make accommodations, which they did quite graciously. The salmon was perfectly cooked and served with a nice array of sides including haricot vert, carrots and wild rice.
I was thrilled with the dessert selections, for the most part I’m a purist when it comes to my cheesecake but if I am going to divert — it will only be for pumpkin and that’s what was on the menu and it was delicious! Patrice went with the Raspberry Sorbet which was quite rich in fresh raspberry flavor.
So now you might ask, where did our HVRW Scavenger Hunt points come in? On the wine menu – we each spotted a NY wine (photographed, of course) for 50 points each!
