A few of our favorite restaurants and chefs are coming together for a gourmet tasting to support the The Sarah Neuman Center in Mamaroneck, the Westchester campus of Jewish Home Lifecare. Eastchester Fish Gourmet, Le Provencal Bistro, Club Car and more are joining the organization to raise money for enrichment programs to benefit the elder residents. The fundraiser, held May 5 at Century Country Club in Purchase, will feature a special appearance and cookbook signing by acclaimed food writer Melissa Clark.
Melissa Clark is a New York Times columnist and author of 34 cookbooks. Her weekly column, “A Good Appetite,” illustrates sophisticated ways to cook like a chef at home. Her life as a working mother and no-fuss cook comes through in her writing and recipes, which are generally very approachable and always appealing. In addition to the Times, Clark has also been featured in Bon Appetite, Food + Wine, Every Day with Rachel Ray and Martha Stewart. Below, I included one of the instructional videos that accompany her column, in which she explains how to cook squid at home.
