Sometimes it is easy to forget how full of dedicated farmers, passionate chefs and truly enthusiastic “locavores” the Hudson Valley is. Hudson Rising is an event that celebrates those fine folks, the ones that bring us a variety of delicious craft beers, ciders, fresh produce and sustainably raised meat.hudson rising

From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 30 head to the banks of the Hudson River (next to the Yonkers Metro North station) for an outdoor fete full of local food, drinks and family-friendly boat rides as part of the Hudson Rising Farm Feast. The event is aimed at increasing awareness of environmental efforts to save the Hudson River and support green industries.

Captain Lawrence and Yonkers Brewing companies will be there to sample their craft beers, as well as ciders from Naked Flock and wine from the Finger Lakes. Chefs from the new Pinch Restaurant at Yonkers Casino, Dolphin, The Poutine King, Tacos el Pablano, Zuppa Restaurant and Xaviars X2O on the Hudson will be cooking for the day, with dessert from The Ice Cream Bike. Browse the Farmers Expo with honey makers, candles, local hot sauces, jams, jellies and other farm specialties. In addition to fresh farm fare, Cricket Azime of Creative Kitchen hosts a Kid’s Kitchen with fun food activities.

There will also be Hudson River heritage ships and visiting tall ships to show off the natural beauty of the water. Enjoy boat rides, deck tours, boat parades, on board food sampling, interactive exhibits as well as inspiring talks and films on the future of the Hudson Valley cities.
