New on the Dining Scene: RRQ in New Rochelle


The former On the Waterfront at the New Rochelle Marina has been converted into RRQ, a contemporary barbecue restaurant featuring Southern-style ribs, brisket and chicken. The menu, devised by husband-and-wife team Frank and Rachel Gratale, has been drawing in Sound Shore residents since mid-May with aromas of meats slow cooking in the smoker.

You won’t recognize the former restaurant. The decor is a juxtaposition between backyard fun and fine dining — your drinks do come in Mason jars, but the black-and-white framed photos of classic movie stars give the space an upscale look. The back patio — the perfect summer spot to enjoy some homemade iced tea — has also been updated. But be warned: if you take a table outside, the smell from the hickory smoker will taunt you throughout your meal. But hey, that’s a good thing.

  2. RRQ BBQ’s owner, Frank G., made threats of violence against me and my family when I left a negative review on Yelp about their restaurant. Frank said he would choke me with cellophane if I came back. Frank told Yelp to delete my review and any evidence of his violent threats.

  3. I’m just following up with my last comment to state that my report of Frank Grazale’s death threats against me have been censured from Yelp and I have been prohibited by Yelp’s moderators from reviewing the restaurant in any form.
