42 The Restaurant is about to celebrate its sixth birthday, and owner and chef Anthony Goncalves has big plans for the occasion. So, what exactly is in store for the swank spot atop the White Plains Ritz-Carlton Hotel?
Goncalves plans to turn 42 The Restaurant into a more contemporary-casual dining experience, moving away from the occasion destination genre, with a more approachable menu, new drink options and updated use of space and decor.
“Whether you are in your early 20’s or even 70’s, everyone wants to experience the excitement of going out to an entertaining, chic and sexy venue that’s the place to be seen,” says Goncalves.
A driving force of the makeover is Goncalves’ desire to merge menus from the former Bellota with that of 42, to give a more cosmopolitan mix of chic cuisine. The new menu will be available throughout the entire contiguous dining space, and will incorporate New American cuisine with Iberian influences, as well as authentic Portuguese and Spanish tapas favorites from Bellota.
A new lounge menu includes small bites like oysters and shrimp from the raw bar, salads, pasta, the chef’s signature PFC and Arroz Pato. Guests can expect upscale drinks, craft cocktails and seasonal punch bowls created by mixologist and bar manager Louis Fata, as well as traditional bottle service.
42 The Restaurant will continue to be available for private events, as well as off-site catering, during the redesign. The restaurant plans to reopen with the new concept on Tuesday, September 10.
